Post or bid manufacturing jobs for free on Contract Auction
In the manufacturing industry, it is well understood that finding new manufacturing work is in and of itself a full time job. If a manufacturer decides to take advantage of internet technology and bid on jobs posted online (which are few and far between) the cost just to bid can be astronomical. They can be anywhere from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars per year.
You would think that it would be easier to find a manufacturer for your product. Even with all the advances in internet technology, finding a manufacturer for your product is still extremely difficult. There are only a small hand full of sites that allow buyers and manufacturers to post and bid on jobs, and trying to differentiate between good and bad manufacturers is tough.
There are quite a few directories of manufacturers online, but when there are millions of manufacturers to sort through, it can become very time consuming and fruitless.
I found a relatively new site, ContractAuction.com, that allows for both the buyers and manufacturing companies to post and bid on jobs for free. What’s even better, is that the site also has a feedback system for buyers to rate manufacturers based on their experiences and vice-versa. They deal only with manufacturers in the U.S. right now.
The concept of course seems too good to be true for manufacturers and buyers, but I wonder if the idea will be able to stay free, long term. Once the site is flooded with activity, will ContractAuction.com still be able to maintain free platform? I saw that there were some onsite ads and I wonder if they will be able to keep up with overhead costs with just ad revenue alone.
Anyway, I’m just glad to finally have found a free platform where I can bid on machine shop work.
